It's time for Week #8 of the Farmhouse and Friends Garden Mystery Quilt Block!!

This week on March 20th was the first day of Spring
which means that gardening is just around the corner!!

I have such fun memories of my dad starting
 the garden every year.
Planting peas were the first thing that went into the ground!
Now I am not a fan of peas and as a young girl
I remember having to sit at the table all by myself until i ate my peas!!!

My memory recalls the CANNED peas and I just don't like them.....
but planting, picking, and shelling them was the fun part as a kid.
I do have to say that I like to eat the peas fresh off the vine!!

So in memory of my dad and his garden, my garden block is pea plants started in egg shells!!
Such a fun way to start your plants and watch them grow!!
Happy Stitching and Happy Gardening!!

  1. Love this block! Peas are the first thing to go into our garden also. Still a few weeks to go here in the Great White North!

  2. Darling block and loved your memory with your Dad. I grew up on a small farm and there is nothing better than fresh vegetables. When I was young and first asked to “weed” the garden, I thought I had done an awesome job. Come to find out I had weeded all the 🥕🥕🥕 carrots, hehe Thanks for sharing your pattern, great job!

  4. How beautiful ... the block and the memories! Thank you for sharing. I have always loved frozen peas, hated canned peas, and have learned as an adult that I love fresh peas.
