October....my favorite month!!
I love the fall, and October is the month
that it seems to be
in full swing...
the trees changing colors, leaves falling,
the days shorter,
it's back to school, family dinners, pumpkins,
and it's my birthday month!!
As a kid it seemed to me that going trick or treating was
an extension to my birthday.
I was born on October 27th and loved that we all had costumes
picked and were just waiting for the
anticipation to go door to door and get candy!!
The worst thing was the PLASTIC masks we wore with the
elastic string around the back of you head
pulling at your hair
and the sweat building up between
your face and the mask!!
Such memories....
One of my favorite memories is of my mom making those
yummy, warm, colorful,sticky popcorn balls
wrapped in wax paper!!
Today starts the first of several days of the Hall-o-ween Blog Hop
by Buttermilk Basin.
Stacy loves Halloween and has some fun treats for you!!!
FYI...I love Candy Corn!!!
I know you either love it or hate it!!
I know you either love it or hate it!!
One time my grandmother bought me a whole brown
grocery bag full of candy corn and left it on
my front porch for me!!
Don't you just love grandma's!!
I know I love being one!!
This year the kids have their costumes all picked out!!
Addison is going to be a COWGIRL
Hailey is going to be a TOY SOLDIER
Emma is going to be ELSA
Olivia is going to be a DOCTOR
Lincoln is going to be a PIRATE

Here is a sneak peak at Hailey....I ended up making a Toy Soldier jacket for her....
It's going to be fun!!!
When we got married in 1976
one of our favorite movies was Young Frankenstein!
one of our favorite movies was Young Frankenstein!
I can't even say how many times we watched
it but if you have time watch it this October....
So if you made it through all that....
like they say....good things come to those who wait....
My October Blog Hop Project I have to share with you
is this cute little Frankenstein neck pocket.
These are fun and fast to stitch up so you can still make

Thanks so very much for cute Frankie. I love candy corn too and I also got married in 1976 . So we have something in common. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute project! Thanks so much! How do I find the other blogs for this blog hop?
ReplyDeleteI remember when we had two nights of Halloween before people began to put nasty little things inside candy. We always went to one ladies house first to be sure we got her popcorn balls! Thank you for the Frankie pattern. I have a pattern for a lovely bat and I was going to make a bunting from them. Now, thanks to you, I want to make a Frankie and I'll look for a similar easy looking Dracula and a mummy shouldn't be hard. See, you have inspired me to make a classic monster movies bunting. Now to find the time.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this cute Frankie piece. Happy Halloween to you and your family, may all the ghostly friends of Frankie bring you and your family lots of joy.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Debbie. I loved reading about your Halloween. I remember those masks, too, and the popcorn balls. My grandma used to make pull taffy as well. Hope you get some good candy corn this year.

ReplyDeleteSo cute! Thank you for sharing this pattern. I no longer have little children but I think this would b a great neck piece for wearing to an October quilting retreat! With a little emergency snack - or money if there's a vendor nearby - tucked in.
